Pakistan shoots down eight Afghan drones near border
PESHAWAR, Sep 23 (APP):Pakistan’s air defense system intercepted and shot down eight drones that entered the country’s airspace from Afghanistan.
According to security sources, four drones were shot down in areas adjacent to the Torkham border, while another four were brought down in mountainous areas near the border adjoining Kohat.
The sources said the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force detected and intercepted the drones before they could reach their targets.
The security sources said the incident was evidence of direct support for terrorist groups by Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistani security forces had earlier struck several positions and posts belonging to the Afghan Taliban in the Kurram sector in response to provocative firing from across the border.
