ISLAMABAD, Jul 2 (APP):Ministry of Railways has generated around Rs3.417 million from saloon coaches during the last year and at present the department has only 22 saloon coaches available on the system.
“Two luxurious coaches have been allocated for the prime minister while four coaches have been allocated for the Minister for Railways,” an official in the Ministry of Railways told APP.
He said, “Pakistan Railways officers were not entitled to use this facility other than duty and all these saloons are mostly 40 to 50 years old.”
The official said that total expenditure incurred on these saloon coaches were
Rs19,981,967 during 2017-18. It may be mentioned here that the expenditures incurred on the Governor’s saloons were borne by the respective provincial governments.
