Pakistan Post to issue commemorative stamps on Blue Pottery to mark World Handicrafts Day

ISLAMABAD, Jun 09 (APP): Pakistan Post has announced the issuance of a special series of commemorative postage stamps celebrating Blue Pottery on 10 June 2026, in observance of World Handicrafts Day.
According to an official statement issued on Tuesday, the initiative pays tribute to one of Pakistan’s most iconic traditional crafts and highlights the country’s rich cultural and artistic heritage.
Blue Pottery, renowned for its distinctive cobalt-blue hues, intricate floral patterns, and exceptional craftsmanship, is a centuries-old art form originating from the historic city of Multan. It remains a powerful symbol of Pakistan’s cultural identity and creative legacy.
A key highlight of this issue is that the stamps have been designed by Abu Obaidah Ayyaz, recognized as Pakistan’s youngest postage stamp designer. His contemporary interpretation of traditional Blue Pottery motifs bridges heritage with modern design, introducing the art form to a new generation of collectors and enthusiasts.
To mark the occasion, Pakistan Post will release a comprehensive philatelic package comprising a set of three commemorative postage stamps, a souvenir sheet, a First Day Cover (FDC), an informative leaflet and a special First Day Cancellation.
The issuance recognizes the invaluable contribution of artisans who have preserved and promoted Blue Pottery across generations. It also reflects Pakistan Post’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the country’s cultural heritage through philately.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Post stated that Pakistan’s handicrafts embody the nation’s creativity, history, and cultural identity. He noted that the issuance of these stamps is a tribute to master artisans whose dedication has kept this heritage alive, while also showcasing the talent of young designers such as Abu Obaidah Ayyaz, whose work captures the elegance of this timeless craft.
The commemorative stamps and associated philatelic materials will be available from 10 June 2026 at designated post offices and philatelic bureaus across the country.
Collectors, philatelists, art enthusiasts, and members of the public are invited to obtain this special issue and join Pakistan Post in celebrating the beauty, craftsmanship, and enduring legacy of Blue Pottery on World Handicrafts Day.
