ISLAMABAD, Jun 11 (APP):Pakistan Post disbursed Rs 1.86 billion through 29,728 international remittance transactions during January-March FY2025-26 under its agency agreement with Western Union, generating Rs 7.5 million in revenue through its network of 469 post offices across the country, according to the Economic Survey 2025-26.
The survey noted that Pakistan Post, one of the country’s oldest government departments operating under the Ministry of Communications, continues to play a vital role in Pakistan’s economic and social development through the provision of postal, financial and remittance services.
With a network of 9,695 post offices across the country, Pakistan Post remains the largest postal operator, providing domestic and international postal services, financial services, utility bill collection and foreign remittance payments.
According to the survey, Pakistan Post has recently introduced a Same Day Delivery Service to ensure expedited delivery of documents and parcels within urban centres. The service, currently available in 29 cities, guarantees same-day delivery for items booked before noon and is being gradually expanded to additional locations.
The organization has also launched a dedicated mobile application offering a range of customer services, including tariff information, postal code searches, post office locator facilities, complaint registration, shipment tracking and pickup requests.
The survey highlighted that Pakistan Post has upgraded its domestic and international information technology infrastructure to comply with international data requirements, including standards set by the United States and the European Union.
Key initiatives include modernization of the International Postal System (IPS), integration with airline systems to improve shipment visibility and activation of advanced data features in dispatch messaging. These improvements contributed to Pakistan Post’s ranking being upgraded by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) from Postal Development Level 5 to Level 6 in 2025.
To strengthen international cooperation, Pakistan Post has finalized Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Belarus Post and Karpost, while similar agreements with Kyrgyzstan Post, China Post, Türkiye Post and Emirates Post are currently under process.
The survey further stated that a Joint Working Team comprising Pakistan Post, Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and Pakistan Customs is advancing integration of the Customs Declaration System (CDS) with the WeBOC platform through phased implementation.
In addition, a Foreign Post Office is being established at Wazirabad Head Post Office in collaboration with Pakistan Customs and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to facilitate Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) engaged in international trade.
According to the survey, International Letter Mail services, offered under the Universal Service Obligation (USO), are currently available for 24 international destinations and facilitate the transmission of letters weighing up to two kilograms in both ordinary and registered categories.
International Parcel Service, one of the major revenue-generating segments of postal operations, currently serves 204 international destinations and allows shipment of parcels weighing up to 30 kilograms.
Pakistan Post also provides Express Mail Service (EMS), a premium international postal product offering end-to-end delivery of documents and merchandise. The service is presently available for 36 destinations through a global network spanning nearly 200 countries and territories.
The survey added that Pakistan Post has partnered with private courier companies to provide expedited delivery services to 238 international destinations through EMS Plus, which offers competitive rates, track-and-trace facilities and delivery within two to five days.
The survey noted that these initiatives reflect Pakistan Post’s ongoing efforts to modernize postal services, improve customer convenience, expand international outreach and contribute to the country’s digital and economic development.
