Pakistan played its role for Afghanistan peace: Qureshi

MULTAN, Jan 27 (APP)::Minister for Foreign Affairs Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi Sunday said Pakistan played its role for peace in the region by bringing Taliban, Afghan government and America at the dialogue table.

Being well-wisher neighbour of Afghanistan, Pakistan was duty-bound to render its important role for peace in Afghanistan, he said while talking to the media here.

He said peace in Afghanistan was of vital importance and also need of Pakistan. “We have been hosting and serving the Afghan immigrants for the last many years,” Qureshi mentioned.
He said Pakistan had never intended to meddle in internal affairs of Afghanistan nor it would do that in future.
The foreign minister said Pakistan would succeed in re-setting its relations with America. The PTI government would not compromise on interests of the country.
Responding to a question, Qureshi stated that Pakistan wished to resolve issue of water with India through dialogue process. Pakistan had always talked for peace and the whole world acknowledged Pakistan’s viewpoint and efforts for peace.
To another question, he said the PTI had not taken hardline on chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the centre. However, in Sindh, our political opponents did not want to make chairman accounts committee from the opposition.
He urged the opposition to present its viewpoint in the parliament instead of making hue and cry at the media.
“Raising undue noise will not help you make your viewpoint acceptable or enhance your stature,” the foreign minister added.
