ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP): Pakistan and Norway have agreed to expand cooperation in the education sector, focusing on digital learning, teacher training, technical education, and inclusive learning opportunities.
The understanding came during a meeting between Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar and Norway’s Minister of Education Kari Nessa Nordtun on the sidelines of the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, said a press release issued here on Friday.
During the meeting, both ministers discussed ways to strengthen educational ties through collaboration on modern learning technologies and vocational skills. They also shared views on advancing inclusive education policies to ensure equal learning opportunities for all segments of society.
Wajiha Qamar briefed her Norwegian counterpart on Pakistan’s ongoing education reforms designed to expand access and improve the quality of learning nationwide.
She highlighted the government’s efforts to equip youth with digital skills and vocational training to prepare them for future job markets.
She also appreciated Norway’s consistent role in supporting international education programs and expressed Pakistan’s interest in building stronger bilateral ties under the UNESCO framework.
Minister Kari Nessa Nordtun acknowledged Pakistan’s initiatives for improving education and praised its active participation in global forums.
She reaffirmed Norway’s support for inclusive and equitable education worldwide and expressed readiness to continue collaboration with Pakistan in this field.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to working together under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG-4, which focuses on ensuring quality education for all.
The meeting concluded with an understanding to explore joint projects and exchange experiences aimed at promoting innovation and equity in education systems.
