The inaugural shipment, comprising frozen meat, was transported under the Transports Internationaux Routiers (TIR) system, which is designed to facilitate seamless cross-border trade by reducing transit delays and lowering transportation costs.
An inauguration ceremony was held in Karachi, attended by senior customs officials and representatives from the logistics sector.
The launch was described as a milestone initiative aimed at strengthening trade links between Pakistan, Iran, and Central Asian states.
Officials stated that the newly established corridor offers exporters an efficient and cost-effective alternative route to access landlocked Central Asian markets, particularly Uzbekistan.
The route is expected to significantly cut transit time while boosting trade volumes through improved logistical connectivity.

Talking to APP here on Tuesday, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Atif Ikram Sheikh, termed the development a “remarkable achievement” that would pave the way for a brighter future in regional economic integration.
He noted that the corridor would not only enhance Pakistan’s access to Central Asian markets but also open new avenues for trade with further regional countries and potentially extend connectivity towards European markets.
President of the Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), J. Hoth also termed the first shipment to Uzbekistan via Iran a milestone in regional trade development.
He said Gwadar is emerging as a key hub for regional commerce, linking South Asia with the Middle East and Central Asia.
“Gwadar has the potential to become the centre of regional economic activity, connecting Pakistan with global markets,” he added, highlighting the strategic importance of Central Asian states in regional geo-economics.
Meanwhile, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, emphasised that regional economic integration plays a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s economy. He said the Iran transit route would accelerate trade activities and enhance economic cooperation across the region.
The launch of the corridor reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to diversify its trade routes and expand economic engagement with neighbouring regions, he added.
