Pakistan, France hold 8th round of Joint Security Commission
ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (APP):Pakistan and France on Tuesday held the 8th Round of their Joint Security Commission here, reaffirming commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation on security and defence matters.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Federal Secretary for Defence Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Ali, while Secretary General for Defence and National Security (SGDSN) Nicolas Roche headed the French side, said a joint press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The session offered an opportunity for high-level exchanges between the two sides, who reviewed progress on matters discussed during the 7th Round of the Joint Security Commission, held in Paris in 2022.
Both sides reiterated their resolve to further strengthen and implement cooperation in line with the Pakistan-France Roadmap for Bilateral Cooperation (2023) and agreed to continue bilateral dialogue and engagement, with the next Staff Talks to serve as an opportunity to assess defence cooperation.
The two delegations also exchanged views on regional security developments, underscoring the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in addressing emerging security challenges and promoting peace.
They reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in countering terrorism and other related security challenges, including drug trafficking, piracy, and transnational organized crime.
The Pakistan-France Joint Security Commission is an institutionalized mechanism for consultations on security and defence matters, providing a regular platform for exchanges on issues of mutual interest.
It was decided that the next round of the mechanism will be held in France on mutually agreed dates.
