ISLAMABAD, Oct 17 (APP): Pakistan’s Ambassador to Bahrain Javed Malik and Minister for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar Monday met with Shaikh Ahmed Bin Ateyatala Al Khalifa, Minister of Follow Up at Royal Court of Bahrain King to finalise plans for establishing a nursing university in Islamabad.
Speaking about the project, Ambassador Javed Malik said that “the state of the art King Hamad University of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences will be a gift from the King of Bahrain to the people of Pakistan. Our meetings at the Royal court were aimed at agreeing a roadmap for construction with a view to starting the project later this year,” said a press release received here.
He said that additional meetings have also been held with Royal College of Surgeons School of Nursing (Bahrain Campus) to develop globally accredited curriculum that imparts world class medical education in the field of nursing and allied medical sciences.
The ambassador said that in addition to the academic campus there would also be a residential facility and that they were working closely with the Ministry of National Health Services to develop this as a university of international stature.
He said that Minister Saira Afzal Tarar spent a busy day in Bahrain meeting senior officials. Further meetings were planned for Tuesday to ensure that the project moved forward without any delay.
Ambassador Javed Malik thanked King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa for his generous and gracious gift and said that ‘King Hamad University will be an icon of friendship between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain.’
He also expressed his appreciation to Shaikh Ahmed Bin Ateyatala Al Khalifa, Minister of Follow Up at Royal Court, Maj. General Dr Shaikh Salman Bin Ateytalla Al Khalifa and the entire team for the continued support.
