ISLAMABAD, Jun 8 (APP): Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz Wednesday expressed satisfaction over the development cooperation with the United Kingdom and said Pakistan would welcome British assistance in the reconstruction of areas, affected by operation against terrorists.
The Advisor stated this in a meeting with British Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening, here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sartaj Aziz said the DFID’s programme had been progressing well in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and underscored the need to expand it to Sindh and Balochistan as well.
He expressed hope that the current positive and constructive momentum, generated after third Pak-UK Enhanced Strategic Dialogue (ESD) in April 2016, would continue forward through a sustained follow-up.
Secretary Greening appreciated the concrete steps taken by the Pakistan government to improve socio-economic conditions in Pakistan.
She said the DFID had the largest and most successful programme in Pakistan.
The Minister reiterated the UK’s commitment to extend further development assistance, particularly in the areas of health and education.
The British Secretary of State was accompanied by Director General Department for International Development (DFID), the British High Commissioner and the Head of DFID Pakistan.
