ISLAMABAD, Jun 4 (APP):Deputy Chairman Senate and Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla on Thursday said that President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent visit to China reaffirmed the deep-rooted and historic ties between Pakistan and China, describing the relationship as “heart-to-heart connection.”
In an exclusive interview with TVSky, Mandviwalla said that President Zardari highlighted the enduring friendship between the two countries and the strategic importance of their bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
He noted that President Zardari played a key role in advancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), stating that the initiative was signed in 2012 and formally launched in 2015. The project paved the way for enhanced economic connectivity and development projects in Pakistan.
The Deputy Chairman described China as Pakistan’s “all-weather friend,” emphasizing that Beijing’s contributions to Pakistan’s economic growth and infrastructure development had been remarkable.
He said the recent visit of President Zardari’s carried significant importance in the current regional and geo-political environment, reflecting the importance of steadfast diplomatic efforts.
Discussing broader geopolitical developments, Mandviwalla said that President Donald Trump’s recent visit to China drew global attention, describing it as a positive omen for the world.
Replying to a question, he said that Pakistan and China had a great history of 75 years of cordial and diplomatic relations, reiterating the resolve that both the countries would further strengthen ties in different sectors.
Furthermore, Mandviwalla stated that amid ongoing tension in the Middle East and the contemporary political situation, Pakistan emerged as the important global player through his tangible diplomatic and political efforts.
Mandviwalla reiterated that Pakistan-China ties continue to serve as a pillar of regional cooperation and economic development, adding that both countries remain committed to further strengthening their strategic partnership for mutual benefit and regional stability.
