ISLAMABAD, Dec 04 (APP):Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a significant meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott on Thursday focusing on bilateral relations, security cooperation, and issues of mutual interest.
The discussions also covered the return of Pakistanis residing illegally in the UK.
In the meeting, documents for the extradition of Shehzad Akbar and Adil Raja were handed over on behalf of the Government of Pakistan. Minister Naqvi emphasized the need for their immediate repatriation, stating that both individuals are wanted in Pakistan and should be handed over without delay.
Minister Naqvi also provided substantial evidence against Pakistani citizens involved in propaganda activities. He affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to freedom of expression but cautioned that fake news is a problem for every country. “No country can allow defamation and slander against its state and institutions from abroad,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of international cooperation, Naqvi welcomed the UK’s support in repatriating those spreading anti-Pakistan propaganda. The Interior Ministry has also initiated the extradition process through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Federal Secretary Interior Mohammad Khurram Agha and other senior officials were present during the meeting.
