ISLAMABAD, Jul 11 (APP):In a landmark achievement, Pakistan Railways earned a record income of Rs. 93 billion during the financial year 2024-25.
According to a press release issued on Friday, Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has said that this is the highest ever income by Pakistan Railways.
Giving the breakup of the income, Hanif Abbasi said out of Rs. 93 billion, passenger trains earned Rs. 47 billion while Rs. 31 billion have been collected by freight trains.
One and a half billion rupees have been earned through military traffic while 3 billion have been collected through other coaching resources, said the minister.
While rest of the nine and a half billion rupees have been generated through miscellaneous sources.
Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said that this is the record income in the 78 years’ history of Pak Railways.
He went on saying that railways earned Rs. 88 billion during the last financial year.
In revenue generation, Karachi division topped in the passenger sector with Rs. 14.75 billion, Lahore division remained second with Rs. 11.25 billion.
In freight sector, again, Karachi sector remained on the top with Rs. 28 billion earning while Multan became second with Rs. 1 billion.
