Pak-French multifaceted ties to strengthen in days to come: Zahid

ISLAMABAD, Jul 14 (APP): Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid Thursday said that Pakistan regarded France its economic, political and strategic partner and the bilateral
multifaceted ties would further strengthen in the days to
come.

Addressing a reception hosted by Ambassador of France in
Islamabad Martine Dorance to commemorate the National Day of France, the minister said July 14 has special place in the history of France that has also become a symbol of human rights as well as the values.

The reception was attended by Minister for Finance Ishaq
Dar, Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafarul Haq diplomats from various countries as well as the parliamentarians from different political parties.

The national anthems of both the countries were played
and the ambassador along with the guests also cut the cake to celebrate the National Day.

The law minister said Pakistan placed its relations with
France at top priority and there was a huge potential to
improve the bilateral ties.

He hoped that both the countries would work to harness
the potential to bolster the multiple ties between the two
friendly countries.

Zahid Hamid also thanked the ambassador for hosting the
Pakistani delegation in the Climate Summit held in France.
He said the Ministry of Climate Change and its relevant
departments were striving to implement the decision taken at the Climate Summit.

He told the participants that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had already announced Green Pakistan Initiative aimed at protecting the country’s environment and taking the measures to tackle the challenge of climate change in the country.

In her address Ambassador Martine Dorance said French
companies were taking interest in Pakistan and were optimist about the business environment in the country.

The ambassador, who also spoke in Urdu, said she had
learnt Urdu long ago while being in Paris and added that
France had entered into an education partnership with Higher
Education Commission to train the future elite of Pakistan.

She said the economic ties between Pakistan and France
were bound to grow and the logos of the French companies
displayed at the venue showed their interest as well as the
optimism about the business opportunities in Pakistan.

The ambassador told the audience that the embassy would
arrange the activities in relation to the National Day of
France in Lahore and Karachi as well.
