ISLAMABAD, Jun 18 (APP): Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Senator Ishaq Dar on Wednesday said that nearly two dozen member nations of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have strongly condemned the recent Israeli aggression against Iran in a joint statement issued last day.
Sharing the joint statement of 24 OIC member states in response to the situation, Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar informed in Upper House that the statement has also been published on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He stated that the joint statement condemned Israel’s June 13, 2025, attacks on Iran, citing violations of international law and the UN Charter.
It called for respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, the cessation of hostilities, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
He said the statement also underscored the urgent need for a comprehensive ceasefire, warning that the escalation posed serious threats to regional peace and stability.
He said the OIC countries also reaffirmed the importance of establishing a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, urging all regional countries to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
He said the signatories called for the protection of nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards, warning that attacks on such sites would violate international law and humanitarian principles, including the Geneva Conventions.
He said the statement emphasized the need for a return to negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and stressed safeguarding freedom of navigation in international waters, as well as ensuring maritime security.
He said, “Diplomacy and dialogue in accordance with the UN Charter remain the only path forward. Military actions will not bring lasting peace to the region.”
Concluding his remarks, Dar said, “This is the joint statement endorsed by Pakistan along with other brotherly nations, and I present it for inclusion in the Senate record.
