ISLAMABAD, Nov 19 (APP):More than 2,300 graduates received degrees and medals during the 47th and 48th Convocation Ceremonies of COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) were held at the Jinnah Convention Center.
Executive Director COMSATS, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Nafees Zakaria, graced both ceremonies as chief guest, while CUI Rector Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, Incharge Campus Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar, Deans, Directors, faculty members, students, and parents attended the event.
During the 47th Convocation, a total of 1,160 graduates, including 29 PhD scholars, were awarded degrees along with 26 university medals for the Fall 2024 session.
In the 48th Convocation, 1,184 graduates, including 48 PhDs, received degrees, while 54 university medals were presented to high achievers from the Spring 2025 session.
Addressing the graduates, Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, Rector CUI, congratulated students and emphasized the urgent need for Pakistani youth to prepare for the demands of Industry 5.0.
He highlighted that rapid technological advancements, especially in Artificial Intelligence, are transforming professions, adding that those who do not adapt risk becoming irrelevant.
He said the university aims to shape graduates into entrepreneurs and job creators.
In his remarks, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Nafees Zakaria said that Pakistan’s resilience as a nation has been repeatedly tested, and progress in science and technology is essential for socio-economic strength and national sovereignty.
He reaffirmed COMSATS’ mission to support developing countries, particularly in Asia, in overcoming development challenges through scientific excellence.
He urged graduates to embrace entrepreneurship and contribute innovative solutions to society.
Sharing campus updates, Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar, Incharge Campus, said that scholarships worth PKR 80 million were awarded to students during Fall 2025. He added that the campus currently hosts over 12,500 students, including 400 PhD scholars, and has produced 1,759 W-category research publications this year, reflecting CUI’s strong research culture.
With a growing global reputation, COMSATS University continues to deliver high-quality education, drive innovation, and prepare future leaders. The ceremonies concluded with the formal award of degrees and medals to successful graduates.
