Our youth should be aware of tragedy of Oct 27: President AJK

ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP):President Azad Jammu Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan on Saturday said our youth should be aware of the importance of the tragedy of October 27.
Addressing a seminar organized by Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, in collaboration with Senate Standing Committee on Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan on Kashmir Black Day, he said on October 27, 1947, the sufferings of Kashmiris started with the landing of Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir.
“India had killed more than 0.5 million and the same number are out of the Kashmir, while 27000 female were kidnapped,” he said.
He said the day was therefore observed as a Black Day throughout the world wherever the Kashmir were residing.
He expressed that United Nation’s recent report was proof of the fact that Indian troops were responsible for a large number of unlawful killings in Kashmir.
Prime Minister AJK Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan said the people of Jammu and Kashmir had been resisting the Indian occupation for the last 70 years.
“India forcibly occupied the Kashmir and they are trying to convert the Muslim majority into minority to change the demographic status of the valley,” he said.
He said that the people of Kashmir never accepted the illegal occupation and started a freedom struggle, supported by a public uprising in 1947.
Raja Farooq Haider said a free and fair plebiscite under international auspices as per UN resolutions should be held to determine the will of the people.
He said self determination was the basic right of Kashmiris and UN should respect the right to self determination of Kashmiris.
He said the international community should put pressure on India to give up its intransigence and show positive approach towards resolving the Kashmir dispute.
He gave invitation to the senate standing committee on Kashmir to conduct next committee meeting in AJK.
