Opposition parties while in govt also availed IMF programmes: Firdous

ISLAMABAD, May 14 (APP):Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Tuesday said the opposition parties when in power had also availed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) packages but they were now criticizing the present government for seeking same kind of programme.
The opposition should not try to dictate the government, which would do everything which was in the national interest, she added.
Reacting to a press conference of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders, Dr Firdous, in a statement, said corrupt leaders were speaking through their spokespersons in the opposition parties.
She said Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was a puppet prime minister and follower of the Sharifs. He should better think as a Pakistani and tell (the nation) as to how the Air Blue was in profit while the Pakistan International Airlines was running into losses.
The accountability process could only be carried out by a person, who was sincere and whose hands were clean, she added.
The special assistant said the PML-N leadership used to claim that it would recover money from Asif Zardari. But they themselves were a living example of theft and stubbornness, and the party was a refuge for the corrupt, Dr Firdous added.
She said when a person involved in corruption was nabbed he would start shouting that it was political victimization.
