Opinion sought to chalk out nationwide campaign on cleanliness

ISLAMABAD, Sep 28 (APP):Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Dr. Fehmida Mirza on Friday sought the opinion from members of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) in order to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to launch a nationwide campaign on cleanliness.
The minsiter chaired the first meeting of the task force of CCI on cleanliness and highlighted the vision of the Prime Minister on clean Pakistan and discussed the major contours of the nation wide cleanliness campaign, says a press release.
Fehmida Mirza said that the the main aim of the meeting was to share, discuss policies and ideas to launch a nationwide campaign to clean Pakistan.
She said that government was aiming to initiate a movement to achieve the goal of clean Pakistan and for this purpose there was a need to identify a cooperative framework based on sharing of ideas, information and policies from different provinces.
The Secretary Inter Provincial Coordination Jamil Ahmad gave a detailed presentation on the nationwide drive on cleanliness that will be coordinated and supported by the federal government, driven by provincial government and will be implemented by the local governments.
He said that the cleanliness campaign will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister and will be followed by the provincial governments, adding that scale and tempo of this movement will be developed gradually.
It will be all encompassing campaign, covering all areas from solid waste management to personal hygiene.
The involvement of both public and private sectors will be ensured. It will not be a time bound exercise but will continue as it aims to change the behavior, he added.
The meeting was attended by Mayors of Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar. The representatives of Local Bodies and Municipal Corporation were also present in the meeting.
