OPF waives off fee of stranded workers' children

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29 (APP): Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) on Monday announced to waive off tuition fee of the students studying in OPF educational institutions whose parents were working in defaulted Saudi Oger and Saad Trading Company in Saudi Arabia.

The step was taken in order to provide relief to the families
of Pakistani workers on directives of the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Pir Syed Saddarudin Shah Rashidi.

The applicants would have to forward their applications through Pakistan Embassy at Saudi Arabia to get benefit from fee exemption policy, Managing Director, OPF, Habib-ur-Rehman Gilani said.

Talking to APP, he said that OPF always stood by with Pakistani diaspora and their dependents.

“We will never let them alone in their difficult times”, he said.
He said that the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and
Human Resource Development, Pir Syed Saddarudin Shah Rashidi had recently visited Saudi Arabia to resolve the issues being faced by the Pakistani workers there.

During his visit, he met with Saudi Ministers and discussed
issues and problems being faced by Pakistani workers including issuance of pending salaries, renewal of Iqamas, transfer of work permit etc.

The Saudi high officials have assured for early resolution of
problems being faced by Pakistani workers.

The Federal Minister also visited camps of Pakistani workers
and assured that the interests of Pakistani workers will be protected and their all legitimate dues will be paid to them.
