ISLAMABAD, Jan 1 (APP): Chairman Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Barrister Amjad Malik has said the Foundation has taken a number of initiatives to resolve the social and economic issues of overseas Pakistanis.
Speaking at an interactive session organized by the Embassy of
Pakistan in Riyadh with the members of Pakistani community, he said
these measures were aimed to capitalize upon the intellectual and financial resources for the betterment of Pakistan.
The OPF Chairman said the Prime Minister had given him instructions to ensure the welfare of expatriate Pakistanis.
He urged the participants to benefit from various schemes launched by the Foundation. The employees, who get overseas employment through the protectorate of emigration, were entitled to the benefits offered by the Foundation, he added.
A delegation led by the OPF Chairman, is currently on a visit to Saudi Arabia.
He is accompanied by Additional Foreign Secretary Dr.Irfan Yusuf Shami. They held meetings with the community in Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Riyadh, said a message received here Sunday.
Members of the community discussed matters, including education
of their children, health facilities and non payment of dues to the workers of some companies.
They proposed special schemes for overseas Pakistanis interested in investing in Pakistan, particularly in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Barrister Malik assured them of full support and cooperation of the OPF in this regard.
The Pakistan Ambassador welcomed the delegation to the Kingdom and
lauded the contribution of the community in Saudi Arabia and emphasized the need to give consideration to the views of workers in Saudi Arabia and in the Gulf States while formulating rules and regulations for the overseas Pakistanis.
