ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (APP): Director Excise and Taxation Department Islamabad, Bilal Azam, on Tuesday said that with only two days remaining before the January 15 deadline, vehicle owners have again been reminded to complete M-Tag registration.
After the deadline, no vehicle will be allowed to travel within the federal capital without a valid M-Tag, he said.
In a message, Bilal Azam said the policy had already been announced by the minister. Under this decision, every vehicle moving within Islamabad will be required to have an M-Tag. The aim is to ensure smooth movement, proper record-keeping, and compliance with the system already in place.
He said the deadline is now very close, with only two days left before January 15. After this date, vehicles without M-Tag registration will not be permitted to travel within the city. He stressed that the rule will apply to all vehicles without exception.
The director urged citizens to complete the process as soon as possible to avoid problems after the deadline. He requested vehicle owners to bring proof of ownership and other required documents to the designated centres. Citizens have been advised to visit the relevant excise offices or facilitation centres, where inspectors are available to assist them with the registration process.
According to the department, the M-Tag system helps authorities manage vehicle movement and maintain records. Officials said the process is simple and can be completed in a short time if documents are complete. They added that staff at the centres are present to guide citizens step by step.
Bilal Azam said public cooperation is important for the successful implementation of the policy. He appealed to residents of Islamabad to ensure their vehicles are registered before the deadline to avoid restrictions on movement within the city.
The Excise and Taxation Department has also requested citizens not to wait until the last day, as this could lead to crowding at centres. They advised people to visit as early as possible to complete the process without delay.
Officials reiterated that after January 15, enforcement will begin, and vehicles without M-Tag will face restrictions on travel within Islamabad. Citizens have been asked to take the notice seriously and complete registration within the remaining time.
