Ongoing mega development projects to bring economic stability: President

ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said with a series of ongoing mega development projects,the country would soon attain the goals of economic stability and peace.
Addressing the National Speech Contest here at Pakistan China Friendship Centre, the President said though Pakistan had faced political and administrative instability in the past, the situation had improved to a great extent.
The President said the country was moving forward with a new
ambitions and the resilient Pakistani nation was braving all
challenges with steadfastness.
He said the country paid a big price in the past due to
regional situation that had cast negative impact on the economy.
However, he said the ongoing development projects including
the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would usher in a new era
of prosperity in the country thus benefitting the entire region.
He mentioned that the CPEC project was a package of number of
other ventures including operationalization of Gwadar Seaport,
construction of Gwadar International Airport, network of motorways
and installation of gas and power projects.
The President emphasized that these projects were of national
importance and urged upon the nation to support the government in
their completion.
He said the situation in past had raised despondency among the
people. However, the nation is once again emerging as vibrant
due to the effective measures taken by the government.
He mentioned that the law and order situation in the country
was improving and the Operation Zarb-e-Azb goes on successfully to
wipe out militants.
He expressed hope that Pakistan would soon become a hub of
peace and harmony as enshrined in the thoughts and principles of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
The President also highlighted launch of several electricity
projects that he said would reduce loadshedding to minimum
within a period of two and a half years.
President Mamnoon said eliminating the menace of corruption
from the society would make the country prosperous.
The President appreciated the students participating in the
speech contest, held as a part of the series of events to mark
the Defence Day.
He said the nations who forget their heroes cannot succeed and
Pakistani nation has always remembered and honoured great sacrifices rendered by its soldiers and people.
He urged the students to focus on their studies and
refrain from the activities that distract them from their goals.
The President said education was the best way for human
resource development and asked the students to prepare themselves to
contribute to the national development projects in future.
He particularly urged the girl students to get higher
education and become an effective part of workforce. He however
asked them not to blindly follow the traditions of West and prove
themselves to be a pride for Pakistan.
The function was attended by academia, researchers and
students.
