One police official dead, five injured in blast

DERA MURAD JAMALI, June 23 (APP): A senior police official was killed and five other police personnel among them SHO were injured in a bomb blast took place inside a police station in Nasirabad district, on Thursday.

Deputy Inspector General Police, Nasirabad Range, Sharjeel Kharal confirmed the incident.

Talking to journalists, he said that an explosive was placed in the store of the police station Shaheed Aziz Balo Notal which was confiscated.

The explosives exploded, leaving one police official dead and five other police personnel including a station house officer of the police station injured, he said.

The rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the dead and injured to hospital. The explosion was so powerful as it was heard from far away.

The roof of the police station premises was collapsed in the blast and windowpanes of nearby buildings were shattered, the DIG said, adding that the police official died and others suffered injuries as the roof of the police station building fell down on them.

The deceased was identified as Additional SHO, Nazir Ahmed Umrani and the injured were recognized as SHO, Manzoor Ahmed and other personnel including Somar Khan Pandrani, Haibat Khan Siaal, Ghulam Rasool Pichoha and Ahmed Khan.

According to doctors, condition of some injured was very serious who were referred to Larkana Civil Hospital.

The DIG, Sharjeel Kharal, SSP, Malik Saleem Ahmed Lehri, Deputy Commissioner, Nasir Ahmed Nasar, senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party, Mir Sadiq Umrani and senior officials reached the hospital.

The police have been investigating into the incident. Further probe was underway.
