OFP running 24 educational institutions to provide quality education

ISLAMABAD, Oct 29 (APP): Overseas Pakistanis Foundation is running 24
educational institutions for provision of quality education to children of
Overseas Pakistanis and general public and there is no proposal under
consideration to establish any new school.
An official source told APP that in 2009 Overseas Pakistanis
Foundation (OPF) established new educational institutions at Lahore and Karachi. But, the OPF was forced to close Public School Lahore this year
due to heavy subsidy as well as no significant increase in student
strength.
To a question, he said the OPF Board of Governors decided in its
meeting in March this year that OPF should not establish new educational
institutions in any rented building and low overseas Pakistanis concentration areas.
He said in future the OPF may explore the possibilities to establish
OPF educational institutions at its buildings in its own housing
schemes.
To a question he said as per statistics available with Bureau of
Emigration and Overseas Employment from 1981 to April 2015, the number of total registered overseas workers was 7,521,108.
