NUML, Senate ink accord

ISLAMABAD, Dec 23 (APP): National University of Modern Languages (NUML) and Senate of Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under “Parliamentary Education Program” initiated by Senate of Pakistan.

Rector NUML Major General ® Zia UD Din Najam and Secretary Senate Amjed Pervez Malik signed the MoU here at the Parliament House on Wednesday. Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani, All Chairmen Senate Standing Committees, Additional Secretary Senate Mussarat Abbas, Director General NUML Brig.

Riaz Ahmed Gondal, Senators, Registrar NUML and other officials also attended the MoU signing ceremony.

According to the Parliamentary Education Program, 10 students from NUML will be given opportunity to work at the Upper House of the Parliament, gain hands-on experience of how legislation is done, interact with elected representatives and make vital contributions in the senate with their knowledge and ideas.

It is mutually agreed by the two parties that Senate of Pakistan will provide opportunity to 10 students as internees for the period of two to six months during summer and winter vacations and a sum of Rs 12,000 as stipend will also be paid to each student per month.

Rector NUML Major General ® Ziaud Din Najam termed this accord as historic step by the upper house of the country to provide students an opportunity to work with the Pakistan’s most prestigious institute. He said that students should take advantage of this agreement to excel in life.
