NPC hosts Mehfil-e-Naat to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH)
ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP):Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC), on Friday hosted a Mehfil-e-Naat in connection with Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) at aimed to highlight the message of compassion, peace and brotherhood.
Renowned Naat poet Wafa Chishti presided over the gathering, while senior member of the Council’s Executive Committee Ambassador Salahuddin Choudhry attended as the chief guest, said a press release issued here.
In his introductory remarks, Hameed Qaiser said September 1 marked the death anniversary of the Council’s founding chairman, the late Zahid Malik, who used to organize such blessed gatherings at the Council on Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) and other religious and national occasions.
“His soul would certainly be happy today,” he said.
Addressing the gathering, Wafa Chishti said, “We are truly fortunate that Allah Almighty has made us members of the Ummah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). What greater honour can there be for mankind than that the Prophet (PBUH) is the beloved of Allah Almighty?
He said Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) was a fundamental source of guidance for humanity and showed the way towards the straight path.
Chishti further said that the advancement of science was also indebted to the Holy Quran, adding that many discoveries being made by modern science had already been referred to in the Holy Quran 1,400 years ago.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Salahuddin Choudhry, said the first word of revelation received by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was “Iqra”, meaning “Read”.
He said the Nazriya Pakistan Trust had undertaken the responsibility of educating out-of-school children. Under its Education Network Pakistan (TNP), two schools had been established in the outskirts of Islamabad to provide quality education to out-of-school children.
Ambassador said Islam teaches peace, harmony and brotherhood, saying that these values had enabled Muslims to hold a distinctive position among the nations of the world.
During the Mehfil-e-Naat, Hafiz Saad Abbasi, Adeel Ahmad Farooq Naqshbandi and Wafa Chishti presented Urdu and Saraiki Naats and received appreciation from the audience.
The event was hosted by Gauhar Zahid Malik. He thanked all the guests for attending the gathering.
