Noon wins french support on Kashmir at French national assembly
ISLAMABAD, Aug 04 (APP):Federal Minister and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, currently on an official visit to France, met French National Assembly member Carlos Martens Bilongo at the French National Assembly on Tuesday.
The two sides discussed Pakistan-France relations, parliamentary cooperation, trade and investment, regional developments and the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
During the meeting, Bilongo voiced support for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with international law and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
According to a press release issued by the National Assembly Secretariat, the two leaders held wide-ranging talks on strengthening parliamentary engagement, expanding bilateral cooperation and promoting collaboration in key sectors, including information technology and telecommunications.
Bilongo expressed support for Pakistan’s principled position on the Kashmir dispute and said the issue should be resolved peacefully in line with international law and the wishes of the people of IIOJK.
The French parliamentarian also expressed his desire to visit Pakistan with a parliamentary delegation to further strengthen legislative ties and explore new avenues of bilateral cooperation.
He showed keen interest in Pakistan’s information technology and telecommunications sectors and assured his support for promoting cooperation and investment in these fields.
Noon welcomed the French lawmaker’s support for Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding parliamentary relations, economic cooperation and people-to-people contacts with France.
He also invited Bilongo and his parliamentary delegation to visit Pakistan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Noon presented Bilongo with a commemorative shield and a traditional Kashmiri muffler as a gesture of friendship and solidarity with the people of IIOJK. Bilongo thanked the minister and appreciated the symbolic significance of the gifts.
The meeting ended with both sides expressing confidence that sustained parliamentary engagement and enhanced bilateral cooperation would further strengthen the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and France.
