ISLAMABAD, Feb 6 (APP):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Wednesday said nobody would get an NRO in the government of Imran Khan and Pakistan Tehreek i Insaf (PTI) and it should be clear that neither there would be any deal nor relaxation and all cases of corruption against individuals would be taken to their logical conclusion.
In a statement, the Minister said today a meeting of senior leadership of Pakistan Tehreek i Insaf (PTI) was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The leadership reviewed the political situation and noticed that talk about NRO was continuing, he said adding for 22 years, Imran Khan and PTI waged a war against corruption and it was not a personal battle but it was for the people of Pakistan and to say that somebody would get NRO, it was not possible.
He said the senior leadership of PTI expressed its severe reservations about the role of Shehbaz Sharif in the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
The way Shehbaz Sharif immediately summoned National Accountability Bureau after assuming the chairmanship of PAC and pressure was exerted on it, it became clear that Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League (N) were using PAC as a shield against their cases of corruption, which was unacceptable, he observed.
He said now, it was said that Saad Rafique should also become part of Public Accounts Committee so that he could also get that shield. So it was clear that Public Accounts Committee was being used as a shield in the cases of corruption, added.
He further said today, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Aleem Khan and he immediately resigned from his post which proved the difference in the political culture of Pakistan Tehreek i Insaf (PTI) and other political parties.
By tendering his resignation, Aleem Khan had begun a brilliant tradition. Aleem Khan understood that he had to face the cases of NAB without using his office, the Minister said.
“Shehbaz Sharif should have the same thinking and we demand that Shehbaz Sharif should stand down himself from the post of Chairman PAC and face the cases of corruption.”
“Accountability is need of the country and for that we stand behind the institutions of accountability. However, it should not look that it is a balancing act. It should be apparent that justice is being done with transparency and merit.”
