No peace in region sans Kashmir resolution: Speakers

ISLAMABAD, Oct 19 (APP): Speakers at a seminar on Wednesday said sustainable peace in the region was not possible without resolving Kashmir issue.

The seminar was organized by Muttahida Tulaba Mahaz which was attended by political leaders, religious personalities, student organizations and media persons.

The speakers paid rich tribute to the youth who achieved martyrdom in the ongoing 2016 Kashmir uprising and expressed deep sympathies with pellet victims.

They while speaking on the seminar named as “Tehreek e Azadi” said referendum was human right while occupation was a crime against humanity.

They said Kashmir conflict could lead South Asia to nuclear
confrontation, Indian state terror in Kashmir was a threat to peace and stability in the region.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had ably presented Kashmir issue in his recent address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) by correctly portraying Indian brutalities in Kashmir putting forth genuine demands at the world forum.

He said Kashmir issue should be highlighted more at all
the international forums and urged United Nations (UN) to take Kashmir issue seriously.

Liaqat Baloch said Pakistan should improve its foreign policy to highlight Kashmir issue as it was need of the hour to take strong stance for resolving the issue.

Faisal Kareem Kundi of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) said people of the country were standing with Pakistan armed forces shoulder by shoulder and were on same page regarding Kashmir issue.

He said all the political parties were united on Kashmir issue, adding parliamentarians were visiting different countries to expose Indian brutality against innocent Kashmiris.

Leader of Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) Ameen Shaheedi said the youth of Pakistan stood by Kashmiri people and fully support their independence movement.

He said after the martyrdom of freedom fighter Burhan Wani had given new life to Kashmir independence movement.

Shaheedi said Kashmir Day should be observed like “Youm-ul-Quds” to impress upon the international community to come forward in a big way to help the people of Jammu and Kashmir secure their inalienable right to self determination.
