ISLAMABAD, Aug 25 (APP):Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Security Islamabad Rana Umar Farooq ordered round-the-clock operational readiness of surveillance cameras and technical systems covering the Diplomatic Enclave, High-Security Zone and sensitive government installations, stressing prompt maintenance to prevent any security blind spots.
An official told APP on Tuesday that the DIG Security issued the directions during a visit to the Safe City Control Room, where he reviewed security monitoring and the performance and effectiveness of surveillance cameras.
The concerned officers briefed Rana Umar Farooq in detail on camera coverage, monitoring, performance, and the security surveillance system.
The DIG Umar directed officials to ensure timely maintenance of cameras and keep all technical systems functional at all times so that any suspicious activity or untoward situation could be detected promptly and an immediate response initiated.
He called for further strengthening of surveillance around the Diplomatic Enclave, High-Security Zone and sensitive government institutions, directing officials to maintain continuous watch over the security situation at key locations.
Umar said modern technology and the Safe City monitoring system should be effectively utilised to strengthen security at sensitive locations.
He directed that any fault in cameras or other technical systems should be rectified immediately to ensure uninterrupted security monitoring.
The DIG said Islamabad Police was utilising all available resources for the protection of citizens, diplomatic missions and key government installations, while the Safe City surveillance system was being used to make security arrangements more effective and coordinated.
