Renowned Iqbaliat scholar, writer, educationist and Executive Director of the National Language Promotion Department (NLPD), Dr Rashid Hameed, has achieved another significant milestone in his academic and teaching career, with five of his textbooks now forming part of the formal curriculum.
NLPD ED earns distinction as five of his textbooks become part of curriculum

ISLAMABAD, Sep 01 (APP): Renowned Iqbaliat scholar, writer, educationist and Executive Director of the National Language Promotion Department (NLPD), Dr Rashid Hameed, has achieved another significant milestone in his academic and teaching career, with five of his textbooks now forming part of the formal curriculum.
The textbooks authored by Dr Rashid Hameed under the Punjab Textbook Board include Urdu textbooks on Pakistan Studies for matriculation and intermediate classes, along with their English translations. Earlier, his History textbook for Grade 8 had been in use since 2022. With the publication of the latest books, the number of his published textbooks included in the curriculum has risen to five.
Dr Rashid Hameed began his teaching career nearly two decades ago as a History teacher at Government College Murree and Taxila. During the same period, he also served as the editor of the literary page of daily Nawa-i-Waqt.
Later, he held important positions at several national institutions, including the Muqtadra Qaumi Zaban, Pakistan Academy of Letters, Urdu Science Board and Urdu Dictionary Board.
His History textbook for Grade 8, for which he served as principal writer, was published in English in 2022. In 2026, his Urdu textbooks on Pakistan Studies for Grade 10 and Grade 12 were published, followed by their English translations. The publication of these books is considered an acknowledgment of his academic and research contributions.
Dr Rashid Hameed has also served as a member of the Higher Education Commission’s curriculum development committee for MS and MPhil Urdu programmes.
The achievement reflects not only his academic and literary capabilities but also his valuable contribution to the preparation of quality curriculum material for important subjects such as History and Pakistan Studies.
On the occasion, colleagues at the National Language Promotion Department expressed their pleasure over his academic achievement and congratulated Dr Rashid Hameed, while praying for his continued success, honour and recognition in the academic and literary fields.
