ISLAMABAD, Oct 05 (APP): The National Institutes of Health (NIH) on Monday organized a two-day Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Spokesperson Workshop in Gilgit-Baltistan to strengthen communication and public engagement during health emergencies.
The workshop was held with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Health Department, Gilgit-Baltistan, under the Pandemic Fund.
Representatives from human health, animal health and environmental health sectors participated in the training, which focused on strengthening practical skills in risk communication, media engagement and effective public health messaging.
Participants were also trained on identifying and addressing misinformation and improving coordination among relevant sectors during public health emergencies.
The workshop emphasized the One Health approach, recognizing the close links between human, animal and environmental health in preventing and responding to emerging health threats.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the capacity of health stakeholders to communicate timely, accurate and coordinated information to communities during outbreaks and other public health emergencies.
