NHMP IG directs officers to ensure safe, quality travel on highways

ISLAMABAD, Aug 18 (APP):Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry on Tuesday directed officers to utilize all available resources to ensure safe, comfortable and quality travel facilities for citizens on national highways and motorways.
He issued these directions while chairing the monthly regional conference of the NHMP, attended online by Additional Inspectors General, Deputy Inspectors General and Senior Superintendents of Police from different regions and zones across the country, said a press release.
During the meeting, the overall performance of all zones was reviewed in detail. Various measures aimed at improving traffic management, ensuring safe and comfortable travel, and addressing other important operational matters were also discussed.
Inspector General Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry directed that all available resources be utilized to provide safe, comfortable, and quality travel facilities to citizens travelling on the national highways and motorways. He further instructed the officers to strengthen the effective enforcement of traffic laws on the national highways and motorways through effective strategies, professional expertise, and the optimum use of modern technology.
During the meeting, the IG Motorway Police emphasized that all officers should treat passengers with courtesy and good conduct and extend every possible assistance to them, as helping and serving the public is a distinctive hallmark of the Motorway Police. He stated that courteous behaviour and public service are the identity of the Motorway Police; therefore, any kind of inappropriate behaviour towards passengers will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
In conclusion, IG Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry reaffirmed that the protection of the lives and property of citizens travelling on the national highways and motorways, the provision of a safe travelling environment, and public service remain among the foremost priorities of the National Highways & Motorway Police. He added that all available resources will continue to be utilized to achieve these objectives.
