NHA starts rehabilitation of KKH under annual maintenance programme

ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP): Out of 806 kilometer length of
Karakoram Highway (KKH) about 67 per cent of road is in fair to
good condition while about 33 per cent of KKH is in poor
condition, an official of National Highway Authority told APP
Tuesday.
He said that the NHA has launched rehabilitation work under
annual maintenance programme during past couple of years.
He said that currently work is in progress on three
work packages between Thakot-Raikot section of KKH under the Chinese
grant project.
The cost of this project is about 7.5 billion and the
project will be completed by January 2017. This project comprises
construction of five bridges and rehabilitation of 143 kilometer
road.
He said that realignment of Attabad Lake Project of KKH has
been completed and up-gradation from Raikot to Khunjerab (km 471-
806) has been done and a length of 335 Km has been
rehabilitated.
