He said growing public support for the creation of new provinces and emerging consensus among political parties on the issue was a positive development.
Speaking during a meeting with local party leaders here, he said the country’s population had increased substantially over the past eight decades, making new administrative arrangements necessary to improve governance and administrative efficiency.
He added that smaller administrative units would help to address public grievances, improve governance and ensure better service delivery.
Abdul Aleem Khan further said that there was already considerable consensus on various proposals, including the Hazara Province in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, separate administrative arrangements for Karachi and Hyderabad in Sindh and South Punjab in Punjab.
Discussions among different political parties on these matters were also moving towards mutual understanding and consensus in a positive way, Abdul Aleem Khan remarked.
He stressed that ground realities must be taken into account to improve public service delivery and administrative efficiency. He made it clear that individual political interests could not be placed above the collective ones, emphasising that all stakeholders must give priority to the broader national interest when addressing important national issues.
Expressing his pleasure over visiting Faisalabad, Abdul Aleem Khan said that the promise to expand the M-4 Motorway had been fulfilled and practical progress had been made on a longstanding demand of the people of Faisalabad.
He observed that Faisalabad was one of the country’s major industrial and commercial centres and its business community and residents deserved better facilities to promote industrial and trade activities and further strengthen the national economy.
During his visit, IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan held meetings with political leaders, industrialists and prominent social figures. Former Provincial Minister and senior IPP leader Chaudhry Zaheeruddin also hosted a reception in his honour.
The reception was attended by IPP Secretary General Mian Khalid Mahmood, IPP Punjab President Rana Nazir Ahmed Khan, General Secretary Shoaib Siddiqui, former MPA Chaudhry Akhtar Ali, along with prominent political and social personalities and industrialists from Faisalabad.
On the occasion, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin and other party leaders warmly welcomed Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan to Faisalabad and arranged a reception in his honour.
It is worth mentioning that, during his visit, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan also addressed the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He subsequently visited the Kamalpur Interchange, where he reviewed the ongoing expansion work on the Faisalabad–Pindi Bhattian section of the M-4 Motorway.
