ISLAMABAD, Oct 2 (APP): The National Emergencies Operation Center of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning of intermittent rainfall in Islamabad, various regions of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan from October 5 to October 7.

In its advisory, NDMA urged local authorities and residents to stay alert and take precautionary measures to mitigate potential risks, including urban flooding, landslides, and disruption of daily activities.

The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) has warned of possible rainfall in the upper catchment areas of major rivers including Jhelum, Ravi, and Sutlej from October 5 to 7.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, intermittent rains are expected in Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Kohat, Kohistan, Khyber, Kurram, and Mansehra. Thunderstorms and rainfall are also likely in Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, Hazara, Peshawar, Swabi, Waziristan, and surrounding areas. These rains may lead to increased water flow in rivers Swat, Panjkora, and Kabul.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, rainfall could trigger landslides in mountainous regions.

NDMA has cautioned that landslides may affect several key routes, including Torghar Road (120 km), Battagram Road (140 km), Shangla Road (160 km), Lower Kohistan Road (180 km), and Tattapani Road (320–360 km). In Gilgit-Baltistan, Gilgit Road (400–420 km), Hunza Road (530 km), and various points on Rondo, Skardu, and Skardu–Jaglot roads may also face disruptions.

Local authorities and residents are advised to remain alert and take precautionary measures to mitigate potential risks such as urban flooding, landslides, and disruption of daily activities.

NDMA has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel in mountainous areas due to landslide risks and stay informed via radio, TV, and the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert app. NEOC is ensuring timely updates to departments, while NDMA coordinates closely with authorities. Citizens are urged to follow local instructions and cooperate during emergencies.
