ISLAMABAD, May 29 (APP):A high-level meeting of the Disaster Management Coordination Forum (DMCF) was held on Thursday at National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to enhance federal-provincial coordination, provide strategic guidance and oversee disaster management at national and provincial levels.
Chaired by Lt. General Inam Haider Malik, HI (M), Chairman NDMA, the session convened key officials, including heads of Provincial Disaster Management Authorities, the State of AJ&K, and Gilgit Baltistan Disaster Management Authorities, alongside NDMA’s senior management.
The forum held an in-depth discussion on critical operational gaps, coordination mechanisms, and resource needs at National and Provincial level. Participants exchanged experiences and highlighted common challenges in preparedness, response, and anticipatory action.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with clear directions issued on various aspects of disaster management for improving collaboration, enhancing data sharing, and streamlining joint planning processes to tackle upcoming disasters.
NDMA remains committed to reinforcing a unified national disaster risk management framework through regular engagement with provincial counterparts under important platform like the DMCF.
