NCHD enrolled 60,000 children in Feeder Schools

ISLAMABAD, May 7 (APP):National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) has launched a country wide enrollment campaign and so far 60, 000 children have been enrolled in NCHD feeder schools in 2017.
Talking to APP, NCHD official, Rai Riaz Hussain said that accessibility of resources was one of the main reasons for low enrollment therefore in order to address the issue NCHD had established 5,949 Community Feeder Schools in underprivileged and remote areas all over Pakistan.
“While 6,581 Feeder teachers were working in these schools with 3,55,000 learners acquiring primary education,” he said.
He said that NCHD had devised ‘Adult Literacy Program’ that focuses on women especially the mothers keeping in view the low literacy rate in the country.
“NCHD adopted two pronged strategy to deal with the low literacy rate in the country i.e. Adult Literacy Programme for the mothers and Universal Primary Education through its Feeder Schools in the remote areas for the unprivileged children,” he added.
Hussain said that since its inception NCHD had imparted literacy skills to 3.8 million adults, 90% of them were females while at present 6000 adult literacy centers were established all over Pakistan.
He said skill integrated literacy program had been launched to improve the living standards through enhancing their socio-economic situations.
To a question, he said NCHD had launched Avant Garde ‘Madrassa School Project’ to bring seminaries in the mainstream and provide formal education to the madrassa students in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Commenting on establishing 6000 Adult literacy centers and framing National Policy on Non-Formal Education, Adult Literacy and National Plan of Action for achieving 90% literacy rate efforts were underway, he said.
