ISLAMABAD, Oct 13 (APP):The National Curriculum Council (NCC) organised a two-day consultative workshop with the collaboration of partner organisations on curriculum reforms to review and update it according to the evolving situation.
The inauguration ceremony of the workshop was held on Monday. Nadeem Mehbub, the secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training (MoFE&PT), graced the ceremony as chief guest, said a press release.
Whereas the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC), the National Curriculum Council (NCC), the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training (MoFE&PT), and partner organisations including the Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE), the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), the National Rahmatul-Lil-Aalameen Wa Khatamun Nabiyyin Authority (NRKNA), and the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) inaugurated the consultative workshop held at the NCC, Islamabad, it added.
The two-day workshop gathered representatives from institutions including the Punjab Enforcement & Regulatory Authority (PERA), the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), the Naval Educational Directorate, the Fauji Foundation, and OPF to review and revise the National Curriculum Framework (2017), aligning it with emerging educational requirements and global standards, it noted.
“The workshop will focus on six key areas: curriculum framework, scheme of studies, learning standards, languages in education, teacher development, and assessment reforms. The IBCC continues to play a pivotal role in advancing curriculum and examination reforms that foster quality and equity in Pakistan’s education system,” it emphasized.
The chief guest, federal secretary of MoFE&PT, Nadeem Mehbub, appreciated NCC’s initiative, congratulating the team for fostering dialogue and collaboration.
He recognised the significance of engaging provincial and federal stakeholders to ensure curriculum reforms are inclusive, data-driven, and future-orientated, stating, “I congratulate the entire team of NCC and its partner organisations for initiating this meaningful dialogue. Curriculum reform is a continuous process that must respond to the evolving learning needs of our students.”
Executive Director of IBCC, Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, emphasized the alignment of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, stating that “curriculum is a living document, and our goal is to ensure that examinations promote real learning, not rote memorisation”.
Earlier, Director NCC, Dr Tabassum Naz, inaugurated the ceremony and welcomed participants, expressing gratitude to all collaborating organisations.
She noted that curriculum reforms were “a shared national responsibility that thrives on cooperation and inclusivity”.
