NBF publishes Farida Masroor’s collection of short stories ‘Charwahay Ki Awaaz’

ISLAMABAD, Oct 06 (APP): National Book Foundation (NBF), under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, has published a collection of short stories by renowned fiction writer Farida Masroor, titled “Charwahay Ki Awaaz”.
The 144-pages book is priced at Rs 590, while it is available to readers at a 50 percent discount at NBF bookshops and outlets across the country. The book has been printed on quality paper and art paper.
“Charwahay Ki Awaaz” contains 21 short stories, including “Zangaar,” “Woh Aakhri Baat,” “Eendhan,” “Dard Ka Rishta,” “Jhaag Aur Pathar,” “Kal Nahin, Aaj,” “Andheray Mein Khara Aadmi,” “Chubhan,” “Kaun Moray Mahaar,” “Saawan Pur Ki Nooran,” “Charwahay Ki Awaaz,” “Do Aansoo,” “Jaye Panah,” “Jaray Ki Chandni” and “Missing Point,” among others.
The book also includes writings highlighting various aspects of Farida Masroor’s personality and literary work.
The book features reflections by Sabiha Shah, Akhtar Shahab and Ghazala Rashid, highlighting Farida Masroor’s fiction writing, literary style, themes and social awareness.
According to Sabiha Shah, Farida Masroor has transformed the hardships of life, human emotions and social realities into effective fictional narratives through a simple and engaging style.
Her story “Hatheli Bhar Aasman” also portrays different dimensions of women’s limited social space.
Farida Masroor’s stories prominently address issues including love, social relationships, injustice, indifference, ignorance and poverty.
“Charwahay Ki Awaaz” is among the significant stories in the collection, while the other stories also retain their relevance through their exploration of social issues.
