NBF hosts book fair, mushaira at Swat university
ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP): Department of English and Foreign Languages, University Of Swat, in collaboration with the National Book Foundation (NBF), Dosti Welfare Organisation, Suvastu Literary Society and Ranra Adabi Lakhkar organized a Book Fair and Mushaira.
The activity aimed to promote reading among students and the general public, encourage engagement with literature, and strengthen intellectual and academic activities.
The Book Fair was formally inaugurated by Dr. Arshad Ali Khan, Registrar, University of Swat. Dr. Syed Hanif Rasool, Chairman, Department of English and Foreign Languages, was also present on the occasion, said a message received here on Wednesday.
The speakers highlighted the importance of books and reading in the intellectual development, education and personality-building of students.
A large number of students from different faculties of the University, along with local book lovers, participated in the first day of the Book Fair.
The participants appreciated the efforts of the National Book Foundation to make affordable and quality books available to readers, particularly students.
On the occasion, the National Book Foundation reiterated its commitment to promoting reading culture by organizing Book Fairs at educational institutions and public centres across the country and making books accessible to the general public.
The participants observed that such Book Fairs provide students with opportunities to select books according to their interests and needs while developing a stronger connection with knowledge and literature.
On the second day of the Swat Book Fair, a Mushaira was held at 11:00 AM at the Theatre Hall, New Academic Block, University of Swat. Poets, writers, students and literature enthusiasts participated in the literary gathering, which highlighted the rich literary traditions of Swat.
The Mushaira also provided students and young people an opportunity to engage with poetry and literature and express their literary interests.
