Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have traced the theft of historical antiques and valuable items worth around Rs20 million from the F-8/3 residence of the Nawab of Bahawalpur’s family, arresting six suspects and recovering around 70 to 80 percent of the stolen property.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 05 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have traced the theft of historical antiques and valuable items worth around Rs20 million from the F-8/3 residence of the Nawab of Bahawalpur’s family, arresting six suspects and recovering around 70 to 80 percent of the stolen property.
An official told APP on Monday that the Margalla Police Station team traced the case with the help of modern technology, Safe City cameras and human intelligence.
The theft took place at the residence of Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi, son of Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi, in Sector F-8/3. According to an earlier report, historical and valuable items belonging to the Nawab of Bahawalpur’s family were taken from the house.
The stolen items included a silver throne chair, silver ladder, silver bowls and statues, gold plates and items carrying the crest of the former Bahawalpur State. A large historical silver frame bearing the Bahawalpur State crest was also reported missing.
The stolen property also included old musket guns and swords linked to the former Bahawalpur State, besides other valuable items. The reported value of the stolen antiques and valuables was around Rs20 million.
SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza said police arrested six suspects allegedly involved in the theft and recovered around 70 to 80 percent of the stolen property from their possession.
He said the investigation had been expanded to recover the remaining stolen items and arrest other suspects allegedly involved in the case.
Police had registered the case under Sections 454 and 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Qazi Ali Raza said ICT Police were continuing action against criminals involved in stealing valuable property.
He said the arrested suspects would face legal action, while further investigation and efforts to recover the remaining stolen items were underway.
