ISLAMABAD, May 29 (APP):National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has said that the national polio eradication campaign continued on Thursday with full swing on its fourth day.
During the first three days of the campaign, 81% of children across the country have been vaccinated, according to the NEOC.
In Punjab, 85% of targeted children have received the vaccine, while in Sindh, the coverage stands at 68%, the NEOC reported.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has achieved 86% coverage, Balochistan 74%, and Islamabad 63%, according to NEOC statistics.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 93% of children have been vaccinated, while in Gilgit-Baltistan, the figure is 91%, the NEOC added.
To prevent cross-border transmission of the poliovirus, synchronized campaigns are underway in both Pakistan and Afghanistan, the NEOC said.
The NEOC appealed the parents to open their doors to vaccination teams. “The NEOC strongly encourages parents to ensure their children receive polio drops in every campaign.”
Vaccinating children under the age of five is a national and moral responsibility for every citizen, the NEOC emphasized.
The NEOC warned that the poliovirus remains a serious threat in our environment.
