ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Thursday said the national institutions were destroyed during decades of bad governance and plundering of national exchequer.
Responding to Calling Attention Notice moved by PPP’s Nafeesa Shah, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah and others, he told National Assembly that the looters and plunderers of national kitty should not go unpunished.
He said Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), Pakistan Railways and Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) were destroyed in the last few decades.
He said Khursheed Shah had recruited 800 persons in Radio Pakistan. The experienced rulers of last three decades had ruined the country. Previous governments had only favoured their cronies, near and dear ones during their tenures, he remarked.
A total of Rs5.25 billion were needed to run the PBC which is enduring heavy losses per annum. He said a committee headed by a leading opposition leader, had recruited their party workers in Radio Pakistan in just three days
which caused Rs70 million additional burden to national kitty.
He said the experienced governments had left the country into pathetic condition. A PML-N senator had managed to recruit his family members in the PIA, he said.
He said due to over two decades worst performance of experienced governments, the country’s 42 percent children had no access to food and there was no money to provide clean drinking water facility.
Opposition was responsible for the increase in the prices of natural gas and electricity, he added.
Citing example of Saudi Arabia , the minister said the Saudi crown prince had apprehended 150 corrupt persons and set them free after recovering the looted money from them.
Stressing accountability, he said a taxi driver had been made Director General of Radio Pakistan. “We have to decide how to run the country as the country could not run as it was done in last decade or so.”
