ISLAMABAD, Jan 01 (APP): The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued a safety advisory for mobile and data users on the occasion of the New Year, warning citizens to remain vigilant against fraudulent online activities.
According to the NCCIA, a surge in “greeting links” and “fake gift offers” has been observed as the new year begins. The agency cautioned the public not to click on any suspicious or unfamiliar links, stressing that such links can compromise personal data and device security.
Users have also been advised not to share their WhatsApp verification codes with anyone under any circumstances. The NCCIA emphasized that links received from unknown numbers can be particularly harmful, posing serious risks to both mobile devices and stored data.
The agency stated that these guidelines are aligned with the government’s broader agenda to promote transparency. The NCCIA reiterated its commitment to implementing reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in digital spaces.
