ISLAMABAD, Jun 25 (APP):The National Assembly on Thursday approved the charged expenditure of Rs 14.729 trillion including payment and servicing of domestic debt.
The charged expenditure is included in demands for grants and appropriations for the financial year ending on June 30, 2021.
The demands and grants related to Pakistan Post Office, expenditure of foreign affairs division, expenditure of law and justice division, National Assembly, the Senate, Pakistan Railways, external development loan and advances by the federal government, servicing of domestic debt, payment of domestic debt, Supreme Court, Islamabad High Court, Election, Federal Ombudsman secretariat for protection against harassment of women at work place, Waqaqi Mohtasib and federal tax ombudsman.
Before approval of the charged expenditure, discussion under clause (1) of Article 82 of the Constitution of Pakistan was held in the National Assembly.
Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar said the debt of government was based on floating terms and the interest rate would reduce according to the policy rate announced by the State Bank of Pakistan.
He said the previous governments neglected the railway sector and instead focused on road infrastructure.
The present government, he said had approved the mega ML-1 project which would bring revolution in the railway sector.
