Nation celebrates Pakistan Day pledging to ensure strong defence, prosperity

ISLAMABAD, Mar 23 (APP):The nation celebrated 82nd Pakistan Day on Wednesday with a resounding commitment to ensure progress, prosperity and a strong defence of the country. The day was observed to commemorate the passage of historic Lahore Resolution on 23rd March in 1940, under which Muslims of the sub-continent set the agenda of a separate homeland for themselves.

The day dawned with thirty-one-gun salute in the federal capital and twenty-one-gun salute in provincial capitals whereas the change of guards’ ceremony was also observed at the Quaid’s Mausoleum and Mazar-e-Iqbal in Karachi and Lahore respectively. The spectacular and colorful Pakistan Day Military parade was held at Parade Avenue in Islamabad with three wings of the armed forces displaying their professionalism and military prowess.

The National Day Joint Services Parade commenced with blood warming tunes of the Military Bands after a special salute paid to the national flag and the President’s review of the Parade which was led by the parade commander Brigadier Arsalan Tariq Ali after requesting permission from the President.

The impressive ceremony kicked off with the fly past of fighter jets of Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy led by Air Chief Zaheer Ahmad Babar presenting salute to the chief guest President Dr Arif Alvi.

Formations of fighter jets including J-10C, F-16, Mirage and P-3C participated in the fly past. Contingents of Pakistan Army, Navy, Pakistan Air Force, Special Services Groups, Frontier Corps, Rangers, Islamabad police marched past the dais presenting salute to the chief guest.

This year’s annual event attained great significance as the foreign ministers of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi were special guests of the Pakistan Day parade witnessed the joint services parade, where Pakistan showcased its military prowess.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the incumbent government were committed to carry forward Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision for a just society and a sovereign welfare state.
Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed In his special message said the dream of the founders of Pakistan for an Islamic and welfare state would certainly materialize.

Minister for Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain in a message said the secret of Pakistan’s development and stability was democracy as democratic norms and traditions promoted tolerance, harmony and tolerance in a society.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Farrukh Habib congratulated the entire nation on Pakistan Day in a tweet and said March 23, 1940 was a day of making the Muslims emotionally prepared for the realization of their dream.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman conferred Presidential Awards to eight legendary personalities of the province in a distinguished awards ceremony on the occasion of ‘Pakistan Day’ held at the Governor House Peshawar.

Governor Balochistan Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha conferred Presidential and Excellence Awards on various personalities for their outstanding performance and best services during a ceremony held at Governor House Quetta.
Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah along with provincial ministers paid homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.

Governor Sindh and Chief Minister laid floral wreath and offered Fateh besides, they recorded their impressions in the visitors’ book at Mazar-e-Quaid.
Punjab Governor Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar Wednesday conferred civil awards to 12 personalities from different walks of life on Pakistan Day.

Addressing the ceremony held at Governor House, he congratulated the nation on Pakistan Day and said the whole nation salutes the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the country’s borders and for peace.
Like other parts of the country, Pakistan Day was also celebrated in Gilgit Baltistan with traditional fervor.

After the Parade review, Pride of Pakistan distinguished personalities who were specially invited at the Parade were paid homage for their meritorious services to the nation including Dr Amjad Saqib who laid the foundation of first interest free microfinance Akhuwat Founation, Malik Adnan, who protected Sri Lankan citizen with courage during a terrorist attack, Parveen Bibi who was a female rickshaw driver and started free female driving training,

Zarghoona Manzoor, the first female SHO of Balochistan and widow of DSP Munawar Tareen who had embraced martyrdom in a terrorist attack, Dr Mimpal Singh who established ICU unit for infants, Maria Shamoon, first AC from minority community of Balochistan and Senator Krishna Kumari Kohli, the proud daughter of Tharparkar who chaired the Senate session on February 5, 2022 that passed resolution on Kashmir, and Saima Saleem, the first blind female CSP officer.
