ISLAMABAD, Jun 05 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ordered the authorities to appoint a NAB’s special prosecutor during the hearing of the petitions for suspension of the sentence of the founder of PTI and Bushra Bibi in the 190 million pound case.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case until June 11.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif heard the appeals.
Barrister Salman Safdar appeared in the court and took the position that the petitions for suspension of the sentence were heard, after prayers and supplications, today’s date has not been given easily.
Special Prosecutor NAB Rafay Maqsood appeared in the court and said that my request is that the federal government had appointed a special prosecutor in this case, it has not appointed any prosecutor general yet.
The prosecutor prayed the court to grant four weeks time in the case stating that we received the notice yesterday. The acting Chief Justice said that if you want to take notification of the prosecution team, then take seven days.
Salman Safdar said that more than 300 cases have been filed against the founder of PTI and the trial court sentenced him.
Lawyer Latif Khosa said that the founder of PTI is in jail without any evidence, the founder of PTI will neither go abroad nor is there a risk of tampering with records.
The court directed the NAB prosecution team to notify within 7 days.
The court ordered the appointment of a NAB special prosecutor by June 11 and adjourned the hearing of the case.
