ISLAMABAD, Jan 29 (APP):National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal Tuesday reiterated eradicating the menace of corruption on priority as the bureau firmly believes in bringing the corrupt, absconders to book.
In a statement, the chairman said NAB has devised an anti-corruption strategy to rid the country of corruption, which was acknowledged by leading organizations as effective strategy to eliminate corruption.
NAB chairman said the bureau was conducting the investigations against housing societies, cooperative companies, bank fraud, money laundering cases, misappropriation of government funds by government employees, private persons, abuse of authority and amassing assets beyond known sources of income.
He said NAB has received double complaints during the year 2018 as comparing to corresponding period 2017. NAB has fixed time frame for deciding the cases. NAB has devised joint investigations strategy by benefiting the collective wisdom of supervisory officers.
The strategy has proved successful. NAB was role model for the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (Saarc) countries. Pakistan was the first chairman of Saarc Anti-Corruption Forum. NAB has already signed an MoU with China for eradicating the menace of corruption.
Over 50,000 character building associations have been constituted at across country schools, colleges and universities to enhance awareness about corruption. Comprehensive grading system has been initiated for improving the performance of regional bureaus.
According to the system, the performance of NAB officers is evaluated every year. Positive impacts of system have already started pouring in. NAB has also devised monitoring and evaluation system according to which each complaint is allocated a specific number.
Chairman NAB himself listens the complaints of oppressed persons on last Thursday of each month. NAB chairman has established Complaint Cells at all regional offices of NAB to facilitate people. NAB has also established state of the art forensic lab having facilities of digital forensic, analysis of documents and finger prints. The lab not only helps saving time of NAB besides keeping quality and secrecy of investigations.
